He has served as principal investigator and co-investigator on numerous clinical trials relating to medical and surgical retinal care, including the Diabetic Retinopathy Clinical Research Network. He has published peer-reviewed articles on ophthalmic conditions. Daniels has spoken at several national and international meetings. He is an assistant clinical professor at UCSF and California Pacific Medical Center. He has served as the Chairman of the John Muir Medical Center Department of Ophthalmology. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a fellow in the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Daniels is a member of the American Society of Retinal Specialists, the California Medical Association, the Alameda Contra Costa Medical Association, and the East Bay Ophthalmology Society. He joined Bay Area Retina Associates in 1988.ĭr. He returned to Los Angeles for his Ophthalmology Residency and Vitreoretinal Fellowship at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA. He completed his internship at Mercy Hospital in San Diego. Daniels stayed in California for his graduate medical training. While pursuing externships in ophthalmology at the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston and Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, he confirmed his fascination with the retina.ĭr. He pursued research and co-authored papers in the departments of ophthalmology, neurology, and psychology. He was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. Daniels received the merit-based Anna Bing Arnold Scholarship. As a medical student at the prestigious School of Medicine at the University of California at Los Angeles, Dr. He graduated with dual degrees and with Honors and Distinction from Stanford University.
